Your telegrams [1] much appreciated. Discussions are still proceeding and the Dutch have extended the time limit until Thursday. A stiff attitude on our part and the Republic’s, may yet gain further concessions. Offer on return to Batavia tomorrow. [2]
The Committee desirous of personal report by three to the Security Council this month. I will be visiting Australia immediately the situation allows for onward journey to New York. Graham and Van Zeeland will arrive there before me, as they are going direct.
