Indonesia 1. On 15th September, Indonesian Representatives discussed recent United States proposals [1] with Lacy of State Department. Further discussions are planned for the 22nd before which date Indonesians would appreciate our comments on proposed draft agreement.
2. State Department fully supports present proposals and is urging Indonesian Representatives to recommend adoption by their Government. [2]

2 In Cablegram 270, dispatched on is September, the Department of External Affairs instructed the Australian Delegation at the United Nations, to ‘emphasise most strongly that we do not feel disposed to press Indonesian acceptance to any proposal in view of past experiences without firm assurances that Dutch are earnest in intention to accept proposals’.
