IMMEDIATE CONFIDENTIAL
The Netherlands Delegation has replied to the Committee’s letter (K231) that a final answer to the questions, which have been cabled to The Hague, cannot be given by midnight December 28th.
Some unsatisfactory comments are included in the provisional reply. Regarding question six it is stated that ‘Indonesian Government etcetera etcetera has decided provisionally to assign Residence to a number of Republican officials in the mountain resorts outside Java’.
2. In forwarding correspondence to the Security Council the Committee has again pointed out its inability to observe the military situation with its observers concentrated in Batavia and with no authority to operate its aircraft.
