Your telegram H.343 [1]-Economic Planning.
1. We are grateful for the full information given in your telegram on your thinking on economic planning for the future and in particular on the programmes which are being prepared to meet American requirements. As you suggest the forthcoming Conference will provide an opportunity for exchange of views at the Ministerial level on the general policy issues involved.
2. The Australian Delegation to the October Conference will include Dr. H.C. Coombs, Director-General of Post War Reconstruction, Dr. Roland Wilson, Treasury Representative in Washington, and Mr. F. H. Wheeler, Assistant Secretary to the Treasury, and these officers will be available for expert discussions with your planning staff. Dr. Coombs left for London on the 14th September and will be available for discussions before the Conference opens.
