Cablegram 159 LONDON, 6 November 1945
United Kingdom has now reached conclusion that war being over time is ripe to invite Eire to become member of Commonwealth Air Transport Council. [1] This question was I understand discussed at Montreal last December but it was then decided to take no action.
United Kingdom Government have asked me to confirm that it would be in accordance with Commonwealth Government’s wishes that Eire should now be invited to become a member of Council. Glad instructions. [2]
